February - Maui's Dolphin!
The critically endangered species featured in my work this month is the Maui's dolphin! (Aka the popoto in Māori) They are a supspecies of Hector's dolphin, and they are the smallest member of the dolphin family. They are only found off the west coast of New Zealand's North Island, and they are critically endangered due to careless commercial fishing methods. There are only about 50 left alive. To learn more about them and to take action check out: Hector's and Maui's Dolphin
